Driving Under the Influence

CUTTING EDGE PLACER COUNTY DUI DEFENSE

The focus of the law firm is steadfast: A commitment to providing the
most effective representation for clients who find themselves charged
with a Placer County DUI. To that end, The Phillips Law Offices vows
to continue to earn its reputation for excellent representation - one
client at a time. If you have been arrested for DUI, we know what's at
stake, we know how to help and we understand the anxiety that you
may be feeling

The experienced trial and DUI attorneys of the PHILLIPS LAW
OFFICES have been successfully representing individuals for more
than 19 years, serving all of Placer County in cutting edge DUI
defense.

Our DUI attorneys recognize their calling to provide ethical,
vigorous, and diligent legal representation to those charged with
driving under the influence. More importantly, the lawyers at the
PHILLIPS LAW OFFICES believe in the right of zealous representation
of those who have been arrested and accused of driving under the
influence.

Our practice is  focused on  DUI representation to provide 'cutting
edge' legal defense and we operate according to the golden rule...
"treat our clients as we would want to be treated."

At The Phillips Law Offices we are not a DUI "mill", looking
for high volume-discounted representation.
This allows us to
thoroughly and fully prepare each case for the highest-quality
defense by investing maximum effort for each individual, by
interviewing every witness, filing pretrial motions and exploring
every detail of your arrest to support all factual and scientific
defenses. Most importantly, it allows us to establish a close working
relationship with our clients.

The Phillips Law Offices is not a Statewide firm, with high
marketing budgets, that then splits the fee by hiring a true
local attorney.
Be careful firms that practice over a very large
geographical area, the entire state or even country! They may
highlight a very impressive resume' with the price tag to go along
with it! But, then when it comes to your case, it referred out  'for a
cut' to another lawyer who practices in your town. By law in
California, attorneys must get the client's permission for any 'fee
splitting'. Be sure and ask the attorney
who will be actually
handling your case
and be sure you understand all fee
arrangements and costs.

What Makes Us Different?

First, hopefully, you will notice right away some important
differences about our site:  there are no pictures of handcuffs, flashing
police lights, jail bars or folks doing field sobriety tests under the
watchful eye of a policeman. Frankly, you probably have enough
stress already - and one of our most important jobs as your DUI
attorney, is to lower your stress, not increase it.

Second, unlike most of the DUI attorneys on the internet, we don’t
use scare tactics, salespeople or try and impress you with victories
which can’t be proven. To be sure a DUI charge is serious, but the best
thing to do is arm yourself with knowledge. As the saying goes,
“knowledge is power” and the last thing the prosecutor wants you to
have is power. Hopefully, you find our site a good start to figure out
what your options are and answer your basic questions. On my web
page, I provide straightforward information about me, my firm and
my philosophy.

Third, if you call my office, my staff will put your call through to
me. Not a salesperson. I invite you to read through this site or call me
to discuss your case free of charge. I will give you an honest appraisal
of the charges, your situation and the options you have. No "legalese",
just straight talk. And if I am not the attorney for you, I will do my
utmost to refer you to the person who is.

I strongly believe just because you have been arrested with a
Placer County DUI, it does not mean you are guilty.
Bad things
often happen to good people. Obtaining justice for clients is about
results, experience and courage. It’s about facing long odds and
prevailing. It’s about doing what is right. Justice is about being your
client’s warrior, not giving up quickly because it’s a tough fight.

When you've been arrested for a DUI and you don't think it's fair, you
need a Placer County DUI Attorney who can protect your rights...
make sure you're treated fairly...and who knows how to get results.

You've just found that law firm...

Aren't all Placer County  DUI Lawyers
Created Equal? Maybe… Are They Trained
Equal? No way…

All attorneys may be created equal but that does not mean they can
defend at the same level or that they are trained the same. Are all
football players equal? What about doctors, cooks, and musicians?
Some people have more talent than others. Some people train
themselves to the point that they excel in certain areas.

Lawyers are no different. I ask you to compare the level of training
and skill our office has to any other attorney. You will be amazed at
the depth of training we have, especially when compared to other
attorneys who "dabble" in DUI.

What should I look for when hiring a
Placer County DUI attorney?

Just because someone is an attorney, or even a criminal defense
attorney, does not mean that they are qualified to handle a Placer
County DUI case. These types of cases are surprisingly complicated
and require attorneys to stay on top of the changing science and laws.
Some attorneys will gladly take your case and plead you guilty, with
only a superficial review of the police reports and without any
further investigation of the facts or possible defenses. In California,
you can plead guilty without an attorney. Hiring a lawyer is a bit
like going to the doctor: Would you want to go to a general
practitioner or a doctor who specializes in the problem that you
have?

A word of caution: a lot of time and energy should go into properly
defending a Placer County DUI. It can't be done "on the cheap". Like
most things in life, you are pretty much going to get what you pay
for.

You need to avoid the
"Bait and Switch"- Big City lawyers who
accept cases state wide, charge big fees but then 'hand off' case to a
local attorney by splitting the fee who you could have hired for less in
the first place.

Worse yet, the
"Dump Truck"  lawyer who is just going to take your
money and plead you out. These lawyers thrive on high volume low
fees. The key is to plead the client guilty as soon as possible with no
real effort in a defense. At the Phillips Law Offices, we will
aggressively represent you both in your criminal and at the
Department of Motor Vehicles hearing.

The Phillips Law Offices will give your case the personal attention it
deserves. Your problem is our problem and we will handle your case
as if it were our own. That is what we would expect and you shouldn't
settle for anything less.

If you do choose to seek the advice of another attorney, make sure you
ask him or her the following questions:

* What is the average burn off rate of alcohol per hour per
person?

* What is the percentage amount of preservative that should
be in a blood sample?

* What are the top three field sobriety tests recommended by
the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration?

* When does a person reach their peak absorption level?

* What are three major defenses in a breath test case?

An attorney experienced in handling DUIs will know the answers to
these questions. In addition, if you decide to consult with another
attorney, ask them to show you a copy of the California Highway
Patrol Enforcement Manual which details the procedures a CHP
officer must follow with respect to a DUI investigation. If that
attorney does not have this manual, you know he/she is not prepared
for his/her current clients and will not be prepared for your case.
